The Director of Music will work with the pastors to coordinate the diverse worship and music needs of the congregation using music in a way that both engages church members and inspires worship. Proficiency in both organ and piano is preferred.
Primary Responsibilities
· Coordinate, in cooperation with the Worship and Music Committee and the pastors, details related to music in worship.
· Plan and select music/hymns for worship services.
· Assist the church in areas of quality, propriety (copyright law) and preparation of music.
· Work with ensembles to schedule special music.
· Maintain and care for church instruments; communicate needed repairs or supplies.
· Work respectfully and cooperatively with pastors, volunteers, ensemble members, and church staff.
Schedule and Time Commitment
· Up to 15 hours per week
· Sunday 9:00 a.m. worship music leadership is required. Additional hours for rehearsals, planning meetings, and special services are flexible and negotiable.
· Weekly time commitment can vary based on candidate’s availability and agreed responsibilities with an opportunity for more hours if interested in leading Wednesday night worship during Advent and Lent and/or directing ensembles.
Compensation
· Pay is flexible and commensurate with experience, skill level, and the candidate’s level of commitment and hours agreed upon. Starting wage - $25/hr.
· Part-time, shared, or other contract arrangements may be considered.
Qualifications
· Proficiency on organ and piano preferred; ability to accompany hymns, liturgy, and singers confidently.
· Familiarity with traditional Lutheran hymnody and worship structure preferred.
· Good sight-reading and collaborative skills; reliable and punctual.
