Happy 123rd Anniversary to FELC in 2023!
The history of First English Lutheran Church began on May 7, 1900, when a small group of Lutherans desiring services in the English language, voted to organize. (Prior to this, St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church was the only Lutheran church in Cannon Falls, and they worshipped using the Swedish language as late as 1927.) On June 17, 1900, a constitution was adopted and the first pastor was Rev. M.E. Boulton. On December 15, 1901, a committee was selected to find and solicit funding for a church building. By May 7, 1905, a new church building was dedicated on our current site. |
